Election Ads

Every four years it comes screaming back to me why I hate election years: The ads.
I love back to back ads, one for and the next against the exact same proposition, or candidate. I am also extremely fond of seeing negative, hate engendering commercials for the same backwards propositions over and over again. Yelling at the T.V. does no good, in case you were wondering, but hadn't tried it.

My favorite this year is Proposition 8, the gay marriage proposition. Proponents contend it is "protecting" "traditional" marriage. Anything that includes buzz words like protect and traditional should automatically make your left eyebrow go up, and may be followed by an eye roll if your brain is working. Why, pray tell, does your marriage need "protecting"? Is your marriage really, in actual tangible ways, different today than it was yesterday because a gay couple got married yesterday? I ask for proof. Is your marriage somehow in danger? Now they are playing up the school angle, "It's going to be taught in our schools" OOOHHHH. Wow, do you honestly think it is going to be taught on a regular basis, continually like timetables? Or do you think maybe they might read a book for five minutes and that will be it? My favorite commercial shows a couple saying that it will happen in your schools, "in our school in Massachusetts they told our son boys could marry boys". SO WHAT! Do you think your child is now thinking he wants to marry Billy instead of Suzy, seriously? I am the mother of two heterosexual boys. They are only 9 an 12 and I have known for several years that they are raging heterosexuals, not that I would love my kids any less if they weren't (and some people would, don't fool yourselves!). I could bore you with examples to illustrate HOW I know, but trust me I know.

So let's digress for a moment, I assume all of you clearly remember the day you DECIDED to like the opposite sex. What, you, don't? Could you possibly be admitting that it isn't a DECISION people MAKE. Could it be that you always liked the opposite sex, since a very young age and never made a conscious choice, it was just ingrained in you? Therefore, what are you so terrified of your child learning in school? Is Johnny going to turn gay because he got this information in school? It doesn't work that way, get out of the dark ages, open your heart and your mind. Stop fearing what you don't know or understand and quit preaching hate to your children. We need to be teaching our children tolerance, not to treat people differently simple because they look, talk or behave differently from us. If you doubt this for one minute imagine that your religion, race, ethnicity is suddenly, inexplicably the "different" one, would you like to be singled out? Many are too comfortable in their masses of sameness and have never considered what it would be like to be on the outside, and you should. If you want to raise compassionate, responsible adults, you need to raise your children with the same sensitivities. How dare you purport to be a "Christian", but be teaching hate.

Proposition 8 is thinly disguised discrimination. There was this little thing called the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's, It used to be legal to discriminate against people based on color, now we realize that was pretty ridiculous. It is no more legal or right to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation.
Prop 8 isn't about our schools or kids being taught about gay marriage it is about preaching fear and hate and legalizing discrimination.

What you think you know about Sarah Palin

I can't stand it when people say "I like Sarah Palin.". Really? What do you like? That she is a woman? Yes, she is,but that alone is not good enough, seriously. And furthermore voting for ANYONE because they are Pro Life, (or Pro Choice for that matter) is the DUMBEST reason ever to vote for someone. It says absolutely nothing about their qualifications, the old lady who lives next to me is Pro Life, does that mean she is qualified to run the country? Hell no! And neither is Sarah Palin.

So what is it that you like about her? Is it:

1. That she is under investigation for abuse of power after only two years in office? Do NOT tell me she authorized the investigation, because she DIDN'T. She hired her own investigator after they formed a commission.

2. That her son is in the service? Firstly she is insuring that he won't be in Iraq long by blabbing it all over the T.V., she has insured he won't be safe and thus will be sent home. Secondly he HAD to join because he got in trouble and was given the choice to sign up, not so patriotic now, huh?

3. That she is the mother of five? Bristol didn't even live with her, she was living with her Aunt in Anchorage. Now was this because she was pregnant, or can Sarah not handle her own kids? Track lived in Michigan, supposedly for hockey. More like Bull Hockey! He was already on a prestigious team in Alaska, Junior All Stars, or something like that, and see above for the other reason.

4.Is it for her "Family Values"? She was already pregnant with Track when she got married. Supposedly she wanted to save money by having a small wedding, more like she was in a big fat hurry to get married.

5.Is it because she is a good public speaker? She was a newscaster, she can read copy off a TelePrompter all day long. Look at her interview with Katie Couric and she looks like a MORON.

6. Is it because she is so smart? Again look at the Katie Couric Interview, or anyone of several other interviews. She made a reference to making laws against abortion. WOW, did she skip government class? The Executive Branch doesn't not make laws, dumbass. Could they stack the Supreme Court in order to overturn Roe V. Wade, absolutely, but make laws, not quite.

7. Is it because she is an powerful woman? She doesn't believe in equal pay for women. Unbelievable! How would she feel if when she became Governor they paid her less than the previous Governor, because she was a woman, and no other reason. Any woman with any sense believes in equal pay.

8. Is it because she stopped the bridge to nowhere? Well check your facts children! She didn't say no until the Federal Government pulled their funding for it and Alaska was going to have to foot the bill. When we were paying for it she was totally behind it, in fact it was part of her platform.

9. Is it her "experience". Well to start with she ruins McCain's main criticism of Obama, which was a lack of experience. When she became mayor of Wasilla, they had ZERO debt, when she left they had 6 MILLION dollars of debt, million!! And under her government they started charging rape victims for their own rape kits, even though the Federal Government provides funds for exactly that (thanks to Joe Biden, P.S.).
Isn't that nice?

10. Is it because she sold the Governors Jet on Ebay? Well she didn't, again check your facts children, it did not sell on Ebay. They sold it through a broker, and it wasn't just for the Governor, it hurt the Corrections Department because they used it to transport prisoners to other states, due to overcrowding.

11. Is it her foreign policy experience, you know since she can see Russia from her doorstep? Well she can't, several journalist have tried, and it just isn't so. What a surprise another lie coming out of Sarah Palin's mouth. I'm wearing my surprised face!!

12. Is it for her prowess in government issues? Well I know where she showed a lot of prowess. When she was Mayor of Wasilla she secured 27 MILLION dollars of Federal money for a town of 6500 people. Alaska gets more Federal money than any other state and Palin tops even those numbers. So not only is she a beauty Queen she is the Queen of Pork Barrel spending, something McCain supposedly abhors.

13. Is it because of her "experience" as commander in chief of the National Guard? The ONLY thing she is authorized to do it mobilize them in time of Natural Disasters or Emergencies. Other wise she has absolutely no power or authority.

It's all smoke and mirrors folks, if you bother to educate yourself you will see what a joke this woman is.

I am sure I could go on and on, but please people stop saying you like her!!

NEVER DATE A MAN WHO DOESN'T PAY HIS CHILD SUPPORT

Seriously, never date a man who doesn't take care of his children. You can't imagine how much this says about him as a person. What happens if you marry him, have children and heaven forbid, your marriage doesn't work out? That's right, he isn't going to pay his child support to you either? Do you have any idea how difficult it is to raise children by yourself? And just in case you are thinking he won't be able to see the children if he doesn't pay his child support, WRONG! I am only going to speak for California but in this great state, he still has the right to see his kids whether he pays or not and if you were to deny him visitation YOU could go to jail, isn't that nice?

Even if you don't marry him him and so forth what kind of man doesn't take care of his own children? A very irresponsible one, and one who blames other people for his situation(s) and is never really going to be a grown up. So in short, never, ever date a man who doesn't take care of his kids.

Just say NO to Sarah Palin

No experience, no clue what is going on in Washington, NO WAY.
How can John McCain, who is 72 years old and has a history of having cancer put a complete neophyte a heartbeat away from the presidency when his biggest criticism of Barrack Obama is his "lack of experience"?

Do you realize the entire state of Alaska has less people than the city of San Francisco, far less than Los Angeles and only slightly more than Portland or Seattle. Would you elect the mayor of one of those town to be Vice President? I wouldn't, especially if they were already under investigation in their first two years of being Governor.

Does he really think women will vote for the Republican ticket just because she is a woman? How dumb does he think women are? It's so insulting.

John and Cindy McCain

Let's not put a Cheater and a drug addict and thief in the white house. McCain cheated on his first wife, and not just with Cindy before he married her. He cheated LOTS on his ex-wife. He has also been accused of cheating on Cindy McCain, but that all got swept under the rug.

Cinday McCain stole opiates from her own charity, that was supposed to help dissadvanted children. She "admitted" to her drug addiction publicly only because it was all going to come out in the local Phoenix paper and they wanted to appear "honest" by her confessing.

Do we really want to put liars, cheaters and drug addicts into the most important positin in our country. I think NOT.
